Marina Carlton Centre Manager - Hastings, Hawkes Bay, NZ Tell us about your career background: I’ve always been in the business of helping people. Starting with Motherhood where I have gained a wealth of knowledge and experience. A Residential Youth Worker for Youth Horizons - helping our youth to stay out of prison. Systems Trainer for World Vision - making sure everyone understands the end-to-end processes and making the relevant changes to allow work life ease. Sales Professional for Michael Hill Jewellers and Manager for Anytime Fitness. What do you enjoy doing when not at KSS? (Hobbies/ Interests)? Beach time! Anything to do with nature. What are you reading now? Nothing right now, but love to read. What are you watching now? Travel and survival blogs What favourite foods or restaurant would you recommend? Night Markets at Muri Beach (the food stalls are divine). Where did you grow up and what was it like? Papatoetoe, Auckland NZ. Ahh the good ole days where talking face to face was a thing, playing outside was normal, it was okay to eat dirt and bugs, there was no confusion over what letter of the alphabet suited you best. Looking up was easy to do and smelling the roses was an actual thing. Favourite hangout people when not at work? My husband for sure and my family, all 50 million of them!!! Favourite holiday destination or interesting place you’ve been to? Rarotonga to let off some steam and drink cocktails on the beach every day!

Tell us about your career background: My career in the Audiovisual industry began at age 17 as a DJ in Perth. In 1985 I moved to Melbourne and continued to DJ until I was offered a position as an AV Technician, which led to an Audio Engineer, Theatrical Lighting Designer and finally a Consulting Lecturer at Deakin University in Technical Production and Design. Working on Australian tours such as Michael Jackson and U2. In 2000 I transitioned to the Commercial Audiovisual industry, as a Senior Project Manager and then Senior Operation Manager for one of Australia’s largest audiovisual companies. I Retired in 2021. What do you enjoy doing when not at KSS? (Hobbies/ Interests)? Music, drone photography, bushwalking, bike riding, kayaking and SUP boarding. What are you reading now? Leader Eats Last. What are you watching now? It’s Okay To Not Be Okay. What favourite foods or restaurant would you recommend? Korean, Japanese, and Mexican. highly recommend Geonbae Korean BBQ restaurant in Frankston. Where did you grow up and what was it like? Perth WA and was lucky enough to travel the entire state. Favourite hangout people when not at work? My wife, son and daughter are my centre. Favourite holiday destination or interesting place you’ve been to? Last couple of holidays have been to Sydney and the Hunter Valley, the next few trips will be Perth, Korea, and Japan.
