Congratulations to Ray Adams from KSS Miranda and wife Desiree on the birth of their son Ethan. Ethan pictured above with his brothers Dylan (left) and Elijah. Ray has kindly shared their story of the birth... “ My wife woke me up at 2:15am saying that her contractions had started, we knew that it would be a quick labour, because of past experience with our previous two kids. We left for the hospital at 2:25am, we live in an upstairs apartment and have to go down an outdoor staircase to get to our car. As we were walking down the stairs my wife’s contractions became very close. When we reached the bottom landing my wife said that the baby was coming now! That’s when I started to panic, all I could think of was calling 000 and started looking for my phone, my wife was amazing, she just looked at me and in the same voice she uses for my kids when they are in trouble and said “Raymond forget about the phone. Baby is coming!” A minute later I was holding him in my arms this was at 2:35am. My wife picked him up and wrapped him in her jacket. All this had happened on the stairs outside in the freezing cold. We went straight to the car and I finally called 000. They said baby sounded fine (he was crying) and they could send an ambulance or I could drive to the hospital. It was quicker for me to drive so we went straight to Emergency at St George Hospital. She was rushed inside and baby and mum were given the all clear. It was an amazing experience but one that my wife and I never want to repeat.”
