BUILDING A BRIGHTER FUTURE FOR 56 YOUNG PEOPLE

L ast year in October I joined the KSS Team at the Stepping Stone House (SSH) Sleep Under The Stars event held at Taronga Zoo to raise funds for Homeless Youth. Over the years the issues around homeless youth and those innocent young lives being thrown into chaos due to no fault of their own, has really resonated with me. As a father of two teenage boys, it seriously hits home seeing these poor kids suffering. Wanting to give back, I joined the Sleep Out and was pleasantly surprised at the high level of enthusiasm by participants. From the moment I entered the Zoo and checked in for the event, people from all walks of life had huge smiles on their faces, children busting with excite - ment to get their hands on the KSS boxes and start building their shelters for the night, some of which were very impressive! The community spirit and positivity by everyone was great to see.

Stone House Community Hub in December, Jason Juretic CEO of SSH presented KSS with an Award of Appreciation for the continued support as Platinum Sponsors (pictured below: Fiona Harding accepting the Award on behalf of KSS). KSS raised a whopping $40,700 and an amazing $1.4 million was raised as a whole by the event. This will help SSH support 56 young people this year! Nash Varney Assistant Manager KSS Brookvale

During the night we got to hear from some of the kids being supported by SSH, about their personal experiences and the difference SSH has made to their lives. It changed the direction of their lives in a positive way which continues today. We all enjoyed live music during the night and a Smoking Ceremony from a local Aboriginal representative that was an honour to be a part of. Fiona Harding won best dressed, looking fabulous in a KSS Mega Bag with orange flare (pictured above)!
